Holy Cow...Busy Week...but super fun!

In a five day span I helped with a wedding, bridal shower, and a 6 year old's birthday party (by far, my most difficult party to fulfill all of her expectations). So starting on April 15, Erica turned 6 and had a High School Musical Party. She's pretty sure I need to move the dating age down about 10 years or so because she is ready for Troy (Zac Effron) to take her out. And like she say's..."Troy is just sooo cute!"

Next came Kayla's, my soon to be sister-in-law's, bridal shower. She was such a trooper. You can tell by the pictures that she was definately put through some entertaining games thanks to Cindy and Brittney's creativity. And now I know I can fit lots and lots of people in my house. She is definately loved!

After the shower, all of the guys went out for Sushi and then pulled up my couches and watched the Jazz game on my computer for a guys night out.

And most recently, Tony's mom was married on Tuesday, April 20th. I live the closest because they had the wedding in Sandy so I got to help a lot with the wedding. It was a lot of fun seeing her enjoy her night.

I felt bad for Tony. He pretty much had the kids to himself for the night. To show how little we were together, I even got asked for my number because someone thought I hadn't come with anyone and was single. Tony got a kick out of that one. Yeah! Mother of 4 and still got it!

The wedding had a band and my kids LOVED dancing (they danced until everyone else had left and kept the band racking their brains for more songs). I didn't get a picture of Kent and Ryan dancing because my battery died, but Ryan got these big bulgey eyes and would twirl around in circles until he fell over.

It was a very fun week. I was definately never bored. This weekend, I'm going to try to take it easy and pay very close attention to my kids and let them know they still have a mom. Today I've already read stories, built towers, played trains, wrestled, done puzzles, and even let the two youngest boys take an extremely long bath. I've got to try to make up for lost time :)

Random Cuteness

I'm trying to make sure I take lots of pictures of my kids because I hear later children tend to have less pictures.

He looks so peaceful and easy to handle when he's asleep.
Ryan just played right next to him for a good 1/2 hour. SO cute!

One of Ryan's best words is Choo Choo. Derrik has watched Ryan for me twice now. Whenever I leave, Ryan starts to cry and all Derrik has to say is, "Ryan, where is your choo choo?" and Ryan stops and stays happy for the rest of the time I'm gone.

Ryan saying "wha??" when I said his name to try to take his picture.

We went to the Church Museum in Salt Lake and they had this cute hands on place upstairs where my kids played. This is my children recreating the nativity.

Any Guesses??

So my little Kent went missing for a while. All was quiet. BAD!!!! Unless you know the answer, which I think Becky is the only one, I'll let you guess what this might be!! It took me a little bit of time to figure it out...and 5 shampooings.

Our Newest Household Member

Tony's brother Derrik came home from his mission in Atlanta, Georgia in February. He is now staying at our house until the Spring semester starts at BYU. So we get to have Uncle Derrik nice and close for a while.

We had so much fun meeting him at the airport. His flight was going to Idaho, but had a layover in Salt Lake so we got to visit him on his way home. Tony was bummed he couldn't get work off to come. It was great to see Derrik after 2 very long years. What a great family I married into! I can't believe I've known him since he was 10!!

Uncle Michael and Uncle Derrik finally seeing eachother after 3 1/2 years.

Valentine's Day (late)

I should've put this on when it happened, but forgot I had cute pictures, so I didn't do it. I went into the school for Valentines Day parties. Jace's class did a program with poems and songs for the parents, and Erica's class had a Fancy Nancy day where I got to come in and read them Fancy Nancy stories and they all dressed up their best. SO CUTE!
This is a picture of Jace reciting a poem entitled "Cupid is Stupid." So funny. It was about the boys having to be chased around by silly girls all the time because they were struck by cupid's arrow. Hilarious!

Jace with his teacher Mrs. Hix. LOVE HER!

Erica's class party. Look at all the Fancy Nancys and Fancy Bobs(that's what I called the boys anyway.)

I also got a singing telegram at my door!

How do people do it!!

So here I am wasting time on the internet because everything else seems overwhelming. How do people do this? So I thought it would be fun to do a run through on what is really a very laid-back day in the life of Carrie.
So I actually slept in this morning until 7:30 but that was only because I took a shower late last night after I went running so I didn't have to try to sneak one in this morning before the kids woke up. Then off to breakfast to four starving and very grumpy children. Clean the kitchen (milk everywhere, how else do you eat cereal???), get kids dressed, rooms clean, teeth brushed, don't forget meds and vitamins, diapers changed, get school work together, get library books together (because we'll be going there soon) and say bye to my mother-in-law who has been staying with us for the weekend. That's all within 1 1/2 hours. Then off to drop off the kids at school. Next we park and take the two youngest in with me to the school where we help in the book room each Tuesday. Always fun. Let's see how many books we can misplace or color on. Then off to the city library. Amazingly we make it back in time to see my mother-in-law off (she hadn't left yet because she was doing laundry...can I just say how much I love her). Now individual attention for the two youngest, change some laundry loads, clean up more messes made in the last half hour, you'd be amazed, and then off to pick up the kindergartner. Come home, make lunch, clean up forever (now it's applesauce all over), clean kids faces, and put baby to bed. That's where I'm at because the rest is what gets me where I don't feel like moving. Here's where I get to go fold all the laundry that was washed for me, clean up blocks, cars, and movies that were all taken out of the cases sitting on the floor staring at me right now screaming "clean me", help Erica with her homework, empty garbages, pick up all the extra messes I ignored this morning, the ones where the kids "cleaned" their rooms but mostly just shoved things under their beds, into the corners, and in the closet, and clean up my junk pile by the fridge. Hopefully this will be done in 2 hours, and then Jace comes home from school with at least one hour of homework that says "have your parent..." "read 20 minutes with your parent" "spell with your parent" "do flash cards with your parent" I don't remember doing this with my mom, but whatever. Then Becky is coming and bringing my nephews for hair cuts. This is the fun part because I get to talk to someone fun. But of course this is also when Baby wakes up, is hungry, grumpy, and really wants his mommy, but I'll be covered in hair and be ignoring him. So big brother, Kent, will be either tackling him or trying to help him get into the hair all over the floor (which was just mopped...I'll be doing that again too). All the while, my other kids are making unsupervised messes like painting the walls again, or seeing how many things can float in the toilet without sinking. Then as soon as we're done, finish the rest of Jace's homework that surely wasn't done yet because Becky's coming 15 minutes after he gets home, try to get dinner made in 30 minutes that of course needs to be healthy and well balanced and piping hot when hubby gets home because he's "starving". Don't forget to have the house sparkling so that I look like a fabulous wife that has it all together when he gets home. Then I guess book club is tonight which of course I didn't have time to read the book this month, and if I go, that means I will leave Tony alone 3 out of 5 nights this week with the kids (parent teacher conferences, scout stuff, etc.). Lets see if that flies. I very well might not be going. Then come home, clean up whatever mess was left, and sit down for 10 minutes before Tony says, "I'm tired, lets go to bed." My most dreaded statement because that means tomorrow I start again. Whoo! How do people do this?! Tomorrow and Thursday I have even more on my calendar. AHHH! This sounds like a bunch of complaining, which really, it is..but I really do love being a mother. I love every little second. Each silly smile, each messy face, and every spontaneous hug. I just don't know how I can do it all and feel like at the end of the day I gave them each enough attention, or know my house is spotless, or feel like my husband feels loved and pampered. I'm trying, but Gee Whiz! I'm beat!

Jace's Baptism

Jace was baptized last Saturday. It was amazing to see how much support he had. We had almost 50 family members there with us. It was so neat to see my son so ready to make such a big decision. He was definately ready. Now he is making an extra special effort to choose the right. I see him catch himself when he's about to get upset, or if he's done something he shouldn't have, he'll apologize as quickly as he can and he'll apologize again throughout the day for it. What an angel.

Here are some pics of all of the family that came to be with Jace on his special day.
