I guess you might not know who Cael is unless you're from Heber, but he is our one claim to fame. He was a Gold Medal wrestler at the olympics in 2008 and was a Senior when I was a Freshman or Sophomore. I can't remember.
In comparison....my Kent's really gotten good at wrestling this year. Good comparison, right??!
Tony's been working on it with him a lot, and he's gotten so good! The first tournament wasn't as exciting because he hadn't grasped a lot of the concepts yet, but this one was FUN!
I still haven't figured out which direction to turn my phone when I'm recording...maybe next time. This match, Tony was especially proud because Kent understood what to do in each situation. When Tony said, "Go around back," he went. When Tony said "Drive," he drove. Awesome!
During one of his matches (not this one), a little boy had his arms locked around Kent, the whole time. Number 1: you can't do that in wrestling once you're down on the mat (but try to teach that to 6 year olds, so they don't enforce it), Number 2: it wasn't just that he locked his arms, it was that he locked them around Kent's neck! And squeezed! Hard! I kept saying "Tony, he's choking, he's choking!" through the whole match, but Tony kept telling me that he was fine. Well, my little Erica could only hear me say that he was choking, and never the part when Tony would tell me that he'd be okay. Half-way through the match, I turned around to see Erica SOBBING! She was having a breakdown because "That boy is choking my brother!" I felt so bad that I'd let her see me panicking and really tried to get it together for the rest of the match. Tony had to go explain to her the pains of wrestling afterward and try to ease her sweet little mind. She's such a good big sister! The good news, once Kent finally got the kids arms off his neck, he turned around and pinned him! Take that!

I had to take a picture of her because I thought it was adorable that she cared so much. It was one of those moments when you get to appreciate that your kids care about each other. I promise, I hugged her after I got my picture :)
Good job Kent! Daddy was so proud of his little wrestler. When the tournament was over, I can guarantee that Tony's mind was fast-forwarding a few years to seeing Kent choosing wrestling as his sport like his daddy!
